All about traffic!

When the public transport fail!Maybe they should add it to failblog. haha. So situation was that boss was driving to victoria street. So he gave me and Siri a lift(Siri was heading to the tourist information thing at Orchard). So thinking Bugis would be a worse place to get on the eastwest line heading towards the eastside, I decided to drop off at somerset (where boss dropped Siri off). So i took a train to Raffles Place, Yes, it woul be incredibly crazy to try get on the eastwest line at city hall! Now thinking i was being smart, here comes the suprising situation. Usually during the peak period in the evening ( based on my 1 month plus experience travelling back at like 7 from buona vista) the train service has intervals of like 2-3min between each train. Now some of you might think, WOW that is really good what? Its actually bad enough as people will actually be packed like sardines in the train. Now, to my surprise when i reached raffles place, the board that tells you how long it'll be till the next train stated 6 min. SIX LONG MINUTES. Now never before during peak period have i seen the interval THAT long you see! and to make matters worse, what i expected came true. The train was jammed pack like a pressure cooker. If Raffles place was that bad, Imagine when it reached City Hall! not to mention the unexpected, or should I say now becoming a common thing, the train jamming its break in the middle of two stations ( yes, im surprised to! they have super E breaks okay! everyone was thrown around. ) So as some people might have known, I super hate squeezing in the stupid train (which reminds me of a comment nazyra made sometime back.. now i understand what you mean ). And the shoving match is like -.-. My colleague Betty now know which spots in the train to avoid when she's train-ing with me - to avoid my mood turning sour. As I was telling her and another colleague the other day, Sometimes I seriously do NOT understand Singaporeans. A packed train comes into the station. And the board clearly state the next train is in 2 min. But instead of waiting for the next train - which indeed has slightly fewer people on it, i swear - they try to push (literally) their way into the train. Now to add insult to injury (no pun intended) they will just shove innocent commuters and conviniently take up the space that was once occupied by the sandwiched commuter. Oh yes and what about those kiasu people, who die die have to sit on the train? HAHA Sometimes i don't know wether to laugh or to be angry. Imagine me standing from tampines (headed to buona vista) and the train reaches raffles place. so the train starts to empty out slightly so that commuters can actually breath without breathing into another person's back. On rare occassions there will be one or two seats. So some KIASU people (who get on at like maybe kallang? or Bedok? or even raffles place itself) rush towards the vacated sit and sits down, this damning euphoria of " i got it u didnt HAHA" look on their faces. Now most of the times i will look and just go " okkaaaaay" but here comes the part that i don't get. They rush for the sit like the were rushing for Iphone, then 20 seconds later at the next stop, they stand up and get off the train. ?_? Is there a "rest your butt for 2o sec and u will feel better" thing that i'm missing here? Seriously. Singaporeans.. fail laa. -.- |
